Alyx Monteith, Counselling Intern
She/Her
Counselling Intern, Low-Cost Therapy
I am graduating soon and my fees are increasing in May and then again when I’m registered.
If you’re a non-status Indigenous person, sessions with me are pay-what-you-can.
Hi there. I am a white settler and I am grateful to live and learn on the ancestral lands of the Lekwungen (Songhees & Esquimalt) peoples in Victoria, B.C.
I am completing my advanced Counselling Psychology internship at the University of Victoria and during this time I am able to offer affordable feminist therapy at Wildwood, supervised by our clinical director and trainer, Anja Hess, RCC #18489.
I know how difficult it can feel to be human some days. When our minds are overwhelmed it can be challenging to find a way forward. Our suffering can be also be a sign that we are ready to make a change. You don’t need to do this alone.
I am committed to supporting those with big feelings, for a range of concerns, including:
Relationships, Attachment, and Boundaries
Anxiety
Spiritual and existential concerns
Trauma Recovery Preparation
Self-Compassion
Life Transitions
Grief and Loss
Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Yoga
Shame and Self-Worth
Sexuality & LGBTQIA+ Experiences
And more
I have and continue to study extensively in the connection of the mind and body. I have completed a 200hr trauma-informed yoga teacher training, and am currently completing a 2000hr mindfulness and neuroscience training. These practices are evidence based, and have the ability to transform our relationship to our pain, and our lives.
Together we will work to utilize your mind’s natural healing abilities, so you can move toward a life that is manageable and meaningful. Using both our relationship and work together as a path to the change you are seeking.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my dog Kumo and our loved ones, being in nature, exercising, gardening, reading, making pottery, and on other creative projects. I love to laugh, play, and find humour in life. I look forward to meeting you!
Portions of sessions with me will be securely recorded and reviewed by my supervisor, Anja Hess, RCC, then deleted. Anja’s license number is 18489.
